It addresses the recent Argentinian history. It was created in 2001 following the guidelines of UNESCO for the organization of thematic museums. Its job is to collect, study, disseminate what happened during the last dictatorship in Argentina, between 1976 and 1983. It is the first in Argentina to have been recognized of national interest and one of the pioneers in Latin America to study the causes and consequences of the actions of an authoritarian state.
